SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A man is seriously hurt and another is in custody after a crash in Old Town Scottsdale in May.

Scottsdale police say that days after the crash, 27-year-old Edward Michael Novak was arrested after fleeing the scene of the crash.

Officials say they were called to the area along Scottsdale Road north of Indian School Road just after 2:15 a.m. on May 25, for a reported crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries.

He was taken to the hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening.

It was reported that the man may have been improperly crossing Scottsdale Road at the time of the crash, but that remains under investigation.

Officials say that detectives were able to "establish a lead on a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle description reported initially by witnesses," through different means, including video surveillance.

Police served a search warrant at Novak's home on May 27.

"Evidence believed to be related to the case was found during the search warrant service," said police.

According to officials, the pedestrian remains in the hospital.
